Animal Alliance Malta (VO/2519) is dedicated to rescuing, protecting, and improving the lives of animals across the Maltese Islands. We believe every animal deserves safety, compassion, and a chance to thrive… whether on the streets, in foster care, or at our dedicated Cat Sanctuary.
Our Mission
To rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals while promoting responsible pet ownership and strengthening animal welfare laws in Malta. We provide hands-on care for stray, abandoned, and vulnerable animals, with a special focus on cats in our sanctuary.
Our Cat Sanctuary
Our Cat Sanctuary is a safe haven for cats who cannot be released or rehomed due to age, medical conditions, trauma, or long-term care needs.
Here, they receive:
• A stable, loving environment
• Daily food and clean water
• Veterinary care & special-needs treatment
• Socialisation, enrichment, and comfort
The sanctuary is at the heart of our work, offering lifelong protection for cats who would otherwise have nowhere to go.
Who we are
Animal Alliance Malta (VO/2519) is a volunteer-led organisation dedicated to providing safety, care, and respect to animals in need. At the heart of our work is our President, Dr. Romina Frendo, a long-standing animal-welfare advocate known for her hands-on rescue work and public commitment to defending vulnerable animals, especially cats.
Romina has spent years rescuing strays, supporting abandoned and injured cats, and speaking out on animal-welfare issues across Malta. Her experience, leadership, and compassion guide the organisation’s vision and drive our efforts in sanctuary care, rescue operations, and community awareness.
Under her leadership, Animal Alliance Malta continues to grow as a trusted voice for animal protection, ensuring that every animal we encounter is treated with dignity and given a chance at a better life.
How You Can Help

Give a rescued animal a loving forever home. Adoption changes their life and allows us to save another.

If you cannot adopt, fostering offers a temporary safe space for animals recovering from hardship, illness, or abandonment.
3. Sponsor a Sanctuary Cat
Some cats stay with us long-term due to age, medical needs, or trauma. By sponsoring a cat, you help provide food, veterinary care, and daily comfort.
4. Donate
Your contributions support veterinary bills, food, supplies, rescue work, and the everyday needs of our sanctuary cats. Every euro matters.
5. Volunteer
Join our volunteer team. Help with feeding, caregiving, cleaning, transport, fundraising, events, or administrative tasks. Your time truly makes a difference.
6. Raise Awareness
Share our posts, speak up about animal welfare, and encourage responsible pet care. Your voice helps us reach more people and protect more animals.
